Olympics

The Summer Olympics are my most favorite thing to watch, and this year it's even better because I can watch with my girls and they understand it now. It is so awesome to watch all the humble athletes, well some of them humble, and my girls understand what hard work and dedication is.

Arianna has been playing volleyball since April and we also hired her a private coach. Arianna is REALLY REALLY good at volleyball and it makes my heart happy. She works hard at it, listens to what her coach tells her, and comes back week after week even better than the week before. In the beginning she couldn't serve for the life of her, but now she kicks that ball's butt. She can hit all the balls into a small target and while doing all this has a twinkle in her eyes. She LOVES it. Now being her mommy and knowing how cry babyish she is when she gets hurt, I was worried about her being injured, but boy has she surprised me. At camp, she got hit in the face three days in a row (with one day being a concussion), but she didn't cry. She saw the trainer and got right back out there and continued to play.

While we have been watching the Olympics the past couple of days, her eyes light up and a big smile comes across her face every time volleyball comes on. She told me on Saturday that she is going to be in the Olympics one day winning a gold medal for volleyball. I believe in her and know she can do it. I support all of my children's dreams and know they are all going to go far in life.

A Little Inspiration

Ok, so I must admit that I am addicted to Pinterest and today while the girls were taking their naps/quiet time, I came across a very inspirational idea and decided to get started on it right away.


I have 4 daughters and want everything in their life to be special and have meaning. What I plan on doing is to buy 4 copies of "Oh the Places You'll Go" by none other than Dr. Seuss and having each teacher that they have from now until graduation sign it with a little note of their time with my child. When each girl graduates, Joe and I will present them with their copy of the book with the notes of inspiration, etc. Now, most of my girls are older and have already completed several grades, Angie will be the only one I can start the book with from Kindergarten, so I emailed/Facebooked Arianna and Michaela's previous teachers and asked them to write a letter about their time with each child. Once I get these letters, I am going to decide if I want to make a scrapbook (and ask future teachers to write a letter, as well as autograph the book) or if I will just fold these letters and place them in the book. I'm leaning more towards the scrapbook idea. As far as Angel goes, she has switched schools so many times throughout her 4 years of school that it will be impossible to track down all the teachers she has had. She told me that she would switch schools every couple of months :(. So, unfortunately, I will have to start her school career in the 4th grade.

I'm hoping by doing this, my girls will find inspiration everyday of their life in all the places they may go.

This Morning

This morning I woke up and decided I wanted to start a blog. I wasn't sure what about, but here I am. I think this is going to be my venting place to talk about my crazy days with 4 daughters, my husband, the dog, my faith, and earning my teaching degree. With such a lot on my plate everyday, one does need a place to vent, right?! Please stay tuned for the rants, raves, and positives of a scatterbrained mom, wife, and college student!
